“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18
November invites us to pause and give thanks. We begin the month with All Saints’ Sunday, remembering those who have gone before us in faith – parents, grandparents, friends, and fellow believers who taught us to pray, serve, and trust in Christ. Their lives remind us that gratitude is more than a feeling — it’s a way of living and responding to God’s love.
Later in the month, we gather for our Thanksgiving Eve service, celebrating Holy Communion, also called the Eucharist – a word that literally means “thanksgiving”. On the night He was betrayed, Jesus took bread, gave thanks, and shared it with His disciples. Even facing the cross, He gave thanks.
When we come to the Lord’s Table, we, too, share in that same thanksgiving. We remember Christ’s sacrifice, receive His grace, and are united as one family in faith.
This November, may we live with Eucharistic hearts — thankful in every circumstance and mindful that every blessing points us back to our Heavenly Father who is the giver of every good and perfect gift in Jesus’ name! Amen!!
