Pastor Clint Pluenneke St Peter

Getting to Know Your New Pastor

Howdy!  I’m Pastor Clint Pluenneke, and I would like to share a little about myself as I begin my ministry at St. Peter.

I love being a pastor, and I love serving the Lord here in the Texas Hill Country!

I am a sixth generation Texan with roots in Fredericksburg where Conrad Pluenneke settled in 1846 and then eventually settled near Hilda in 1859. Likewise, my grandmother’s side of the family (the Sauers) emigrated to Fredericksburg in 1847 and settled in Doss in 1887 where my Granny (Erna Sauer Pluenneke) was born in 1914.

I grew up in the Lutheran church, and I felt the call to serve the Lord as a pastor going back to my days in high school.

Speaking of high school, thanks be to God, because I married my high school sweetheart, Anne, who practices medicine in Fredericksburg as an ophthalmologist. Anne and I have three kids – Jake, our oldest is married and works as a church youth director in Austin. Molly, our middle daughter, is a first year medical student at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Clara, our youngest, is a sophomore at Texas A&M. God certainly has a sense of humor, because Anne and I graduated from the University of Texas! I graduated in 1993 with a B.A. in Psychology.

Following my undergraduate work, I attended Concordia Lutheran Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, where I graduated with a Master of Divinity in 1998.

It was a big year for us to be sure, because it was also when Jake was born 27 years ago, and this year, Anne and I are blessed to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary!

My first call in 1998 was to Holy Cross Lutheran in Arlington, and at that time Anne was doing her medical residency in Dallas.

For the last 20 years, I have served Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg as the youth and family pastor. In addition, nine years ago, I began a unique partnership of serving both Holy Ghost and St. Paul Lutheran, Cave Creek.

Since becoming empty nesters, Anne and I have settled into this new season of life, and we’re especially thankful for our cat and dog! Ha!  I love being outdoors and enjoying the peace of the country. I love going to Enchanted Rock and hiking. I love watching all kinds of sports. Most of all, I love spring turkey hunting!  Gobble, Gobble, Gobble!!  (Takes one to know one, right?! Ha!)

As we begin this new partnership in 2025, I am very grateful for the opportunity to serve as a “circuit rider” for both St. Peter, Doss, and St. Paul, Cave Creek, and I would ask for your prayers as we strive to be and make disciples in Jesus’ name!
