Dr. Seuss begins, “Congratulations! Today is your day. You’re off to Great Places! You’re off and away!”
We often hear those words at graduations, but every graduation begins with a first day of class. One day, our children are walking into a new classroom with a backpack on their shoulders, and before we know it, they are walking across a stage in a cap and gown. The days can feel long, but the years fly by.
As another school year begins, we pray that wherever our students go, they will remember that they are known, claimed, and completely loved by God: “See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God.” (1 John 3:1)
That same assurance will be at the heart of our Back-to-School Rally Day Youth Service on Sunday, Aug. 23.
During the Sunday School hour, our children and youth will gather in the church at 9:30 a.m. to practice and prepare for the special youth-led worship service and back-to-school blessing which begins at 11 a.m.
Lunch and games are planned following the service.
We are hopeful that the improvements to the Fellowship Hall will be completed by Rally Day. If not, we have a couple of other options available.
We will share more information in church as the location and other details are finalized.
